Training Tuesday: Procrastination

Pretty much how my running went...

This past week I really did not plan ahead. I kept pushing off my Tuesday run until Thursday when I could either run or skip it entirely this week. I also knew I had my back to back run to do sometime over the weekend, but I wasn't sure where I'd fit it in because I had to work Saturday morning (I usually do my long run on Sunday). Turns out I didn't have to be at work until 8:30am, so I squeezed in 3 miles instead of the 4 I had planned.
On Sunday, Dearest and I went for our usual long run. We ended up running 10 miles (I had planned for 9), but it balances out the previous day's run. Although I had run back-to-back-to-back-to-back, I still had a great run on Sunday. I ran my fastest 10k and 15k. :) I got my 10k under 1:05, but my goal for June is to run it under an hour. I have one chance left next weekend, but it may turn into a 2013 goal. :/

Weekly Recap
Tues: slept in and skipped the run
Wed: rest
Thurs: 2 mile run
Fri: 1 mile run
Sat: 3 mile run
Sun: 10 mile run (fastest 10k & 15k)
Mon: rest

In other news, there's about 66 days until my trip to Disneyland, which means I can start making priority seating ressies soon!
My favorite post-race victory meal (no reservations required). You just have to wait until 11am when they open. We may or may not have been the first ones there... ;)

The best breakfast in Disneyland is at the Carnation Cafe. As the only table service breakfast inside the park, pricing is similar to the other counter service restaurants, but the food is 10 times better. Without a reservation, the wait can be pretty long. On past trips, we have eaten there every morning.
1st Anniversary breakfast at the Carnation Cafe

You can start making your dining reservations 60 days in advance. It is more priority seating in that it bumps you up to the top of the waiting list You may still have to wait 5-10 minutes. You can call 714-781-DINE (3463) from 7am-9pm Pacific time, 7 days a week.

How was your week? Do you procrastinate and then pay for it later? Do you have a favorite "must eat" at a Disney park?

  1. Thanks for the info for Disneyland dining, I can't wait to start planning for Tink!

Great job on your 10 miler this week! Some days I procrastinate too... in fact yesterday after work all I wanted to do was put on my pajama's and watch netflix LOL but I made myself workout and felt better afterwards!

I don't have a must eat place at Disney World yet, but I have a long list of places I want to try!! :)

  2. What is the picture of your post-race victory meal? Where is that? Looks almost like Critter Country.

I need to sit down with the hubby and map out where we want to make reservations for during the trip. Have always wanted to try the Plaza Inn for breakfast, ever been there? I've been almost every where else in the park.

Though I can't wait for Tortilla Jo's! My favorite nachos EVER!

  3. Mmm, are those sweet potato fries?!?! Hey, I learn something new about Disneyland every time I read your blog! I didn't realize it was only 60 days at DL. I'm counting down the days (60 to go, coincidentally!) until our 180 mark for WDW and my ADR's! Nice job on the 10 miles and I think when training for DDD, back-to-back is going to be more important than spreading out runs throughout the week...so your procrastination paid off! ;)

  4. Lauren- I know, I'm so excited to register for Tink soon! :)

Lena- Yup, it's the Hungry Bear Restaurant in Critter Country. They have a fried green tomato sandwich with sweet potato fries that is to die for! I haven't tried the Plaza Inn for breakfast yet- I think they have a character breakfast buffet? I hear their fried chicken is pretty amazing though. Tortilla Jo's sounds sooo good right now. I haven't had the nachos yet, but it's going on my list right now!

Karen- yup! Sweet potato fries! I wonder if DL is less time since they have less places? Do you already know where you're going to stay for Princess?

  5. My favourite treat is the Mickey Mouse head shaped ice cream bars. They remind me of my first trip when I was seven years old. :)

  6. You had me at Fried Green Tomato sandwich. I may have to have that after the half! Sounds SO GOOD!

I've been wondering about the Plaza Inn's fried chicken. I've got roots in the South and LOVE me some good fried chicken, so I may have to check it out!

  7. Prairie Princess- I love any and all snacks shaped like Mickey. They seem to taste so much better!

Lena- You have to try it at least once during your trip. If you try the fried chicken, you have to let me know how it is. Mmm. :)

  8. I am a horrible procrastinator! It's probably part of the reason why I run at night ;)

    1. I might have to get some night running in. I always feel so tired after I get home from work though.
