Are you a Half Fanatic?

November is right around the corner bringing lots of fun stuff! Fall is officially here and I can't wait for Thanksgiving. But before all the turkey eating commences, I've got two half marathons to run! First up is Wine & Dine on Nov 8th, then the Avengers Half on Nov 16th. Completing both of these qualifies me to be a Half Fanatic!

There are different levels of being a Half Fanatic, starting with Neptune: 2 half marathons within a 16 day time frame or 3 half marathons within a 90 day time frame. You can see the rest of the levels here

They offer different merchandise and I could always use another Sweaty Band! :)

Have you looked into becoming a Half Fanatic? Is it something you're interested in?

  1. I follow the Half Fanatic FB board, but I haven't ponied up the $40 to actually join. In the past I probably would have, but I can't see the benefit other than buying their merchandise. Since I don't even wear my race shirts, I doubt I'd wear a Half Fanatic shirt. If you do enough races, their discounts might make up for the registration fee, but it's hard to know that since they're so close-mouthed about them. I don't know. I'm kind of torn, really.

    1. I understand the membership fee. I was debating if it's worth it to join and then spend more $$ on merchandise, but I'm hoping it will inspire me to keep up with running.

  2. Becoming Half Fanatic is actually one of my running goals for 2015! I plan on achieving HF status in August and should progress a moon in December when I complete Half #8 for the year. HF is actually based locally (Tacoma, WA) and 4 of my 8 planned races in 2015 are sponsored by the Tacoma City Marathon Association (TCMA). So, I will be eligible for the special HF ribbon for 3 of them! I look forward to hearing about your experience!

    1. Yay! Sounds like you have a great year lined up for 2015! That's awesome that you can take advantage of your local races in the process!

  3. It's nothing i'd ever consider, but thought maybe my sister would but I think she might feel the same way Jennifer does. Cute sweaty band though!

    1. I doubt I'd keep up with the membership since I don't think I'll take advantage of the discounts, but I thought the sweaty band would be a nice way to commemorate running the two races just a week apart. :)
