Training Tuesday

This was me on Saturday after 6 days in a row of work.

This past week of work has been long. Probably one of the longest weeks ever. My boss was on a much deserved vacation, which left me in charge. It's nice that I am trusted enough with that kind of responsibility, but it's also a huge weight to carry. And it meant that I had to be there open to close. Every day. Needless to say, my alcohol-free two weeks ended early. ;) But I'm happy to report that things went swimmingly and I'm glad my boss got to enjoy her vacation.

As hectic as things were, I still stuck to running plan as best I could. I skipped Friday's morning run in favor of somewhat sleeping in before my 11hr work day. I tried to incorporate stretching, but didn't do any strength training.

Weekly Recap
Tues: 2 miles
Wed: rest
Thurs: 3.1 miles
Fri: rest
Sat: rest
Sun: 10 miles
Mon: rest

On Thursday's morning run, I ran my best 5k at 29:16, beating my previous time by 20 seconds. I was surprised since just a few months ago, I had to really push myself to run a 5k under half an hour. My regular pace is about a minute faster and my stamina has really improved.

Sunday's long run was a different story. I was already trying to function on little sleep and was plain exhausted, but I knew I had to get in at least 10 miles. I'd already cut short my past two long runs and with just under 7 weeks to go before the Disneyland 10k and half, I need to pick it up! It was a slow 10 miles and not the 12 I had on my training plan, but I'm happy I got it done.
Do you ever feel like this after a run, but were still glad you did it?
How was your week?

  1. Great job on getting your workouts in on such a busy week! I always feel better after I do a workout that I just wasn't feeling from the start. It's always that first step that is the hardest haha!

Based on how your work week went, I think my alcohol free week would fly out the window too! LOL!

  2. Congrats on gaining speed in your pace! I love when that happens! I ALWAYS feel like it was worth it after a run, even a really hard one.

    1. I use a running app on my phone and I can see all my runs with my pace in a little list. I love seeing my pace get faster on a day-to-day basis. :)

  4. Good job at getting out there and pounding out those 10 miles. Also congrats on your 5K PR, that's awesome! I'm hoping to get my 5k under 30 minutes at some point, that would be nice!

And I've had those days like that dog...just carry me please!?!? :)

Oh and hey...44 days until the big day!! Can you believe how close it's getting! Hope to meet you then!

    1. Thanks! It's so tempting to sleep in instead of running, huh? :)
