Dresses!

I was browsing through my pictures and found some of the dresses that I've tried on. The dress I chose may or may not be in here. You'll just have to wait and find out. ;)
The first one (pics 1 &2) is a gorgeous Oleg Cassini satin dress with tons of beading and a super long train. The second is so light and flowy- perfect for a beach wedding! It's got a beautiful lace up back, too. The third and fourth are definitely two Dearest would like- they have ruching across the bodice and show off my curves. ;) The fifth I've already posted about, but it was my runner up dress.

Forever and always....

Often a phrase associated with love, "forever and always" has popped into my life in a different way. On my quest to be toned and skinny for the wedding, Dearest and I have been running a lot. He thinks it's for marathon training... Shh... ;) We're about 3 weeks into it and I've lost about 4 pounds. My jeans fit a little looser (except that new pair I put in the washer), so I decided to venture out and try on my bikinis.... *GASP* I've been holding onto one for more than a few years, hoping that someday I'd fit into it again. And I did! :D Woohoo! But that's not my point of the post. That's when I realized that all my bikinis have polka dots... As many of you may know, I'm a obsessed with polka dots (hence the background). So love may come and go in my life, although now it's here to stay, but polka dots will be with me forever and always... :)

Food Tasting!

People only really go to weddings for the food, right? We had our food tasting for the wedding at the hotel tonight. All the food looked amazing and tasted so good. For hors d'voeurves we had crab cakes with a creole remoulade, portobello puffs (red peppers, cheese and mushrooms wrapped in puff pastry) and mini beef wellingtons. Dearest picked the beef wellingtons since we always watch Hell's Kitchen and they seem to be the hardest for the chefs to cook.
Entrees consisted of Sonoma chicken breast served with wild rice, zuchini and squash.
Alaskan halibut with a saffron beurre blanc over mashed potatoes with asparagus.

Herb crusted salmon with a citrus glaze over mashed potatoes served with broccoli and cauliflower.New York steak with a green peppercorn sauce served with yukon potatoes and green beans.
In the end we decided on the chicken, steak and salmon (with asparagus instead of broccoli). A little tip- the steak was by far the best and the salmon a close second. During cocktail hour, you'll be munching on crab cakes, portobello puffs and rosemary crusted lamb lollipops. Enjoy!

Holiday Recap cont...

Here's a few more pictures from our holiday dinner. After 8 hours straight of cooking, dinner was amazing! We had turkey, stuffing, ham, yams, veggies, mashed potatoes, rolls and more! Dinner was supposed to serve 12, but we had enough to feed 24. It was so much fun. Can't wait to host another! :)

Holiday Recap

A little holiday recap: we had our big post-Christmas dinner, traveled about 400 miles in 3 days for Christmas and rang in 2010 in style at Disneyland! Here are a few of the highlights. Enjoy!

Update

It seems like November has flown by! I can't believe that Thanksgiving is only a few days away! Dearest and I are hosting a massive Christmas dinner (okay, it's technically a post-Christmas dinner) for 14 people! On the menu- turkey, stuffing, my aunt's candies yams (oh so tasty), ham, mashed potatoes, and much more. I've never made a turkey before, so we're having a dry run to see how it turns out... So far the stuffing is amazing!!! And that was just the leftover part that didn't fit into the turkey. I told Dearest that after discovering this wonderful stuffing, I'll probably make it once a month and stuff a chicken or something. :)

I'm so excited for Christmas! I really want to start putting decorations up, but Dearest says we have to wait til after Thanksgiving. This is the first year we're able to put up lights on the house, since we've always lived in an apartment building. You can bet that our house will be the brightest on the block. Lol. I get a bit carried away with holiday decor. :)

New Year's is sure to be fun, too. We're going to Disneyland for a few days, including New Year's Eve, with my family. I've never been during the holidays and I've heard it's so magical and special. I'm super excited! Plus it means I'll be able to buy all those mickey antenna balls I've seen this year. Hehe.

Dearest and I began our marathon training, but about a week into it, we both got sick. It's been two weeks and we both still have a cough. There were times during the massive headaches of the cold that I had the strong urge to knock myself out with a bat so I could get some sleep. Thankfully we're both well onto the road to recovery. Training starts again tomorrow!

I hope all of you are doing well! I can't wait to see my friends during the holidays!

Too Ambitious?

Somehow I ended up adding something very odd to my bucket list. I want to run a marathon. Yes, me who only started to seriously exercise in the past couple of years. I don't think I can run a full marathon, it's over 26 miles! My goal is for a half marathon. Maybe Disneyland's half marathon? Nothing like running through the happiest place on earth to keep your spirits high. :) Dearest wants to find one that's a month or so before the wedding so we can use the training to whip us into shape for the wedding as well. Two birds with one stone sort of plan. I think he's nuts. :)
