Wanted: WDW Dining Recommendations

I'm making a list of must-eat places for my upcoming first trip to Walt Disney World. Unlike Disneyland, the dining choices at WDW are endless. Seriously. My wrist started to hurt from scrolling so much on my phone. ;)

So far, these are our absolutes for dining reservations:
-'Ohana
-Be Our Guest

Other places we are interested in:
- Rose and Crown
- Tokyo Dining (I think? My mom said it was a sit down place in Japan in Epcot)

Where do you eat at WDW? Do you have any places that are imperative for dining reservations?

  1. Rose & Crown is delicious! Definitely recommend! Be Our Guest is also a great choice, but I've heard it is better for lunch than dinner (unless you really want to see the Beast in character). I ate there for lunch and really enjoyed it!

I highly recommend eating around the world at the Food & Wine festival on days when you're in EPCOT. Lots of little meals and samplers to taste!

    1. One of my goals is to eat at every country in Epcot. I figure after running, it's okay, right? ;)

  2. We are doing Be Our Guest as well, at least we are hoping to get a reservation for it for Sunday night after the marathon as a celebration dinner! Rose & Crown is a MUST! Their fish & chips are awesome!

Whispering Pine at Wilderness Lodge is a great place to dine anytime, SO much fun and the food is really tasty! I've heard that Crystal Palace is a really great character breakfast in the Magic Kingdom, we are going to eat there too during marathon weekend. I really want to try Spice Road Table in Epcot, tapas and cocktails while people watching sounds blissful! I've had pizza at Via Napoli and pasta at Tutto Gusto, and both restaurants are really good! Great flavors and yummy food!

As far as quick service places, I highly suggest the waffle sandwiches at Sleepy Hollow in MK, SO yummy and any one you pick is going to be a winner (I'm a fan of the nutella with banana and strawberries one!). The taco salad at Pecos Bill is awesome because of two words: toppings bar. You get to pile on all the veggies and toppings that you want and it can EASILY feed two people!

But I agree, SO many options and so many types of restaurants to try with so little time! Just means you'll have to come back again...and again...and again... :)

    1. Mmmm.... Glad I ate breakfast already or I'd be really hungry! I really want to try the Spice Road Table, the menu looks delicious. Those waffles sound so good! That's pretty cool about the taco salad- hopefully it's not like a frozen yogurt place and charge by weight. ;)

    2. Oh no, the taco salad is not by the weight. I buy the salad (crispy shell and all) and then you can add as little or as much toppings as you want, for FREE! Well, technically it's included in the price, but it's not "pay by weight", which makes it a really good deal.

  3. There was a place in Hollywood Studios called the 50's Prime Time Cafe. There were no crowds when we went, so we were able to walk right in w/o reservations. It was delicious! It was kind of supposed to be like Mom's comfort food - pot roast, meatloaf...that kind of thing, and it was delicious! The whole place had 1950's style kitchen tables and TV sets showing Lucy and Dennis the Menance and different fifties shows. I wish we had it here in Anaheim.

    1. Mmmm comfort food! Good to know about this place- since I was on the fence about going to Wine & Dine, I missed all the dining reservations. I'll keep this place in mind!

  4. We like Trails end at Fort wilderness. I love the atmosphere there ( love seeing the animals) nd the meals are reasonably priced. Have you looked at the Web site All ears. Net? It's a listing of Disney restaurants nd menus. I reference it all the time! Hey, I got one of your confirmation #'s. I'll send it over to you when I get home and am at my PC.

    1. I've heard of allear.net before. Lately I've been using MousePlanet, but I'll have to check out allears, too.
I replied to your email. So excited!

  5. I'm a vegetarian, so my favorites may be a little different from the average WDW Guest's.

I love Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge! The food is amazing and it's a great excuse to visit an amazing resort. I've been several times for dinner and will be trying their breakfast for the first time in November.

A new favorite for me is Tusker House at Animal Kingdom. They cater the Wild Africa Trek (a tour I highly recommend to animal lovers!) The food is similar to Boma and there are characters in safari outfits at breakfast and lunch!

Another favorite of mine is La Hacienda de San Angel in Epcot's Mexico. They have a separate vegetarian menu (I order the cheese empanadas) and make the most amazing margaritas. I love their Rosita (rose infused margarita)!

Finally, another new favorite is Mama Melrose at Hollywood Studios. They serve the most amazing Italian food with amazing flavors. While the atmosphere feels like you're dining in an Italian neighborhood in New York, the food will bring you back to Italy!

Someone mentioned the Food & Wine Festival. If you do go for Wine & Dine, plan on visiting the festival a few times. Get a passport in the Festival Center and see how many booths you can visit. You can easily stop at a few and make a meal out of it!

    1. I'm actually a flexitarian/semi-vegetarian. I just find I don't eat a whole lot of meat. :) Plus for Wine & Dine, my travel buddy has a lot of food allergies, so I'm sure we'll be speaking to the chefs wherever we go. Haha.

All your recommendations sound amazing! The Wild Africa Trek sounds like fun! And I'm always a fan of Italian food.

We'll be there during Wine & Dine. I know you can eat at the different booths, but what is the passport for the Food & Wine Festival?

    2. The Food & Wine Festival passport looks like a regular passport. There is a page for each booth that lists the food and wine items offered (usually there are about three of each) with a check box so you can mark the items that you have tried. The best part... Each booth you visit will stamp their page in your passport! Each stamp design is unique to that booth's country or region. It makes it really fun!

    3. I will be on the lookout for it! Sounds like a lot of fun! Is it odd that I'm more excited about the food at WDW than the rides? :)
