Disneyland Half Corral Assignments

Guess what came out today?!! The Disneyland Half Marathon corral assignments! :)

Anyone else notice the typo? Lol

In 2011, my first half and first race ever, we started in Corral G. All the way in the back, up the ramp that leads into the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure.
If you squint hard enough, I *think* you can see the start line.

In 2012, using an estimated finish of 2:45 (our finish time in 2011 was 2:48 and I knew we would finish under that), we were in Corral D.
See that sign on the right? Look how much closer it is!

This year, using our 2012 finish time of 2:23, I'm in Corral C! My husband ran another half in April and finished in 1:51, so he's in Corral A. Speedy, huh? I'm super excited for this race- I'm hoping for a significant PR. :)

Are you running the Disneyland Half Marathon this year? What corral are you in?

  1. Congrats on corral C!! And congrats to your hubby too - a 1:51 finishing time is amazing!

    1. Thanks! My stretch goal is to run fast enough to get into corral B next year. :)
My hubby is convinced I can run a sub-2hr. He says his trick it to just not stop running. Maybe if I tie a rope around him he can drag me? Lol. :)

  2. WOOT! Congrats on moving up in the corrals Kim! I'm eying those corral times to get an idea of where I'll be for the Princess, but no clue if it will be similar.

    1. I think Princess will be a LOT different. Since it's a women's focused race, none of the men start in the first 2 corrals.
Here's the Princess corral breakdown from this year. :)

    3. They are putting the men in Corral C though in 2014, right? I think that may end up bumping me into D, we'll see after I run another 10K in October. Right now my 10K time would have me in C but I'm right at the 2:30 mark so if they do 2:25 as the cutoff, I doubt I'll be in C. It's going to be a long wait for me!

    4. I think you'll still make it into C. With the new proof of time requirements in 2014, you have to submit a previous race time if you think you'll finish in under 3:15 (2013 was 2:45). I think that'll push back quite a few people.

    5. Oh yeah, Karen. With that time you will make it into C. I had a finish time of 2:48 and I was in C at this year's PHM, so I think you are golden!

  3. Congrats Kim! I'm so excited for you and your hubby! I squeaked into Corral A for DDD (20715/20778). Hope to maybe run into you on race day! :) Oh and I agree with your hubby--re not stopping. That is a HUGE part of getting sub two--try just slowing down to a slow trot rather than stopping--I find that to be helpful. :)

  4. I am SO EXCITED about seeing all the corral information! I'm in D for this race, which is a bummer to me because I was in C during PHM, so I was hoping I would at least be there again. It's alright though because our corrals in the half are the same corrals for the 10K and since I need a buffer in time between the 5k and 10k, corral D works just fine for me. I know I can always slip into later corrals if I run super late, but I'm going to work hard to get through the 5k in 45 minutes. (scary thought!)

The only thing that will make me later...photo stops. I personally would pass most of them, since I'll see them again during the 10K, but the hubby is running the 5k with me and he's never done a runDisney race, so photo stops are essential for him.

    1. I have faith in you! You can totally do the 5k in 45 minutes, even with photo stops. I'm sure it won't be the last runDisney race for your hubby. They're addicting! I think you'll have an extra 10 minutes at least to let the early 10k corrals go. If not, you should look for me in corral F! The 10k is my brother's first race ever, so we're running with him. :)

    2. Yay! I will do that for sure! The 45 minutes was kind of taking into account photo stops, since most of the people at the front of the 5K don't stop for photos, I'm hoping to get through those fast!

  5. I found your blog because I googled corral assignments (hashtag lazy? :)) and had to comment because we were probably very near each other at the start of the last two years' races! In ya know, a sea of thousands. I'll be in D again this year - good luck!!

And if it helps, my bestie and other good friend that I run with are both in A. Speed racers.

    1. Thanks for stopping by! I keep thinking if I train with my hubby, someday I'll be as fast as him. So far no luck. Haha. Best of luck on this year's race, here's to hoping we both PR! :)
